VICKSBURG, Miss. -- The Coast Guard says oil spilled from at least one of 2 oil barges that were heavily harmed when they hit a railroad bridge over the Mississippi River at Vicksburg. Petty Officer Carlos Vega stated he doesn't know the amount of oil has actually dripped, or the amount of the barges carried. He says federal, state and local authorities were heading there to assess damage after the hit early Sunday. Vega stated the Oil Spill Response Organization, the federal Environmental Protection Agency, and state and local authorities were on the means. Vega stated the Coast Guard got a call about the hit at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, and that the bridge has actually been examined and is safe for trains.
